Title: Pipeline Integrity Engineer, Exempt
reports to: Manager – Software Group and Manager, Strategic Asset Management (SAM) Group (dual reporting line)
function: This position is primarily responsible for the continuing development and management of Quest Integrity Group’s data analysis and engineering assessment solution for process piping and pipeline applications following data collection.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate pipeline integrity management via ILI data sets (specifically ultrasonic data); regulations (established by PHMSA); and API, NACE, POF and other industry standards for ILI technology and ILI data sets.
- Support software LifeQuest™ Pipeline and related software development based on continuing field testing of technology and direct comparison to actual pipeline conditions.
- Support development and management of data assessment process for pipelines (Quest Integrity Group’s condition assessment technologies, FTIS™ and InVista™) which assures consistent application and develops quality control guidelines which can be followed from collection in the field through to data and assessment delivery to the client.
- Establish consistent, high quality reporting formats and interface with clients to resolve client data interpretation challenges as they arise and solicit and synthesize client feedback on prospective LifeQuest™ Pipeline improvements, as applicable.
- Establish consistent and seamless interface between Quest Integrity Group’s Inspection Division and Assessment Division to ensure highest quality and most time efficient deliverable for the client.
- Support pipeline-related corrosion research initiatives, both internal through Quest Reliability’s Materials Engineering Group and through third parties; e.g., industry requirement for an improved understanding of pit initiation and propagation rates.
- Communicate and promote capabilities/advantages of Quest Integrity Group’s inspection and engineering assessment through industry events and publishing or co-publishing relevant technology validation case studies.
- Fulfill project management and coordination needs as requested.
- Interface with domestic regulatory and industry-standard setting bodies and other local regulatory and/or standard setting bodies within the markets we serve.
- Comply with all state, federal and company policies required as part of the data and engineering assessment deliverable activities.
- Participate in management strategy and operations development activities as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT
- BS Degree (or higher) in Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience.
- Understanding of pipeline integrity management via ILI data sets, specifically ultrasonic data.
- Knowledge of pipeline integrity management regulations, established by PHMSA.
- Understanding of API, NACE, POF, etc. standards for ILI technology and ILI data sets.
- Ability to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and other required industry certifications as necessary.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Proficient in MS Office and information technology generally; some software programming experience provides advantage.
