FEACrack Brochure
FEACrack™ is a Windows®-based finite element analysis package that generates 3D crack meshes. You don’t need to be a finite element specialist to use FEACrack™. The intuitive and easy-to-use interface guides you step-by-step through entering the model data, running the analysis, and viewing the results.
FEACrack™ contains a library of structural geometries and crack shapes. Simply select the geometry, crack shape, and enter the relevant dimensions; the 3D crack mesh is created automatically. Building a solid model of the structure is not required as in conventional 3D meshing programs. Creating a 3D crack mesh is significantly more complicated and difficult than meshing an uncracked component, so use FEACrack™ to build 3D crack meshes easily and quickly. For more advanced crack analysis the user-defined geometry can place a 3D crack mesh anywhere in a larger structure. The user provides a definition mesh giving the desired shape of the crack mesh, and FEACrack™ generates the 3D crack mesh within the given volume.
The user controls the crack mesh refinement by selecting from the standard mesh blocks or using the PRO mesh controls. The standard mesh blocks are appropriate for stress intensity K values. The PRO mesh controls provide an unlimited level of crack mesh refinement and are also used for cell-type crack meshes to analyze crack growth.
The crack front stress intensity K and J-integral can be calculated using the built-in FEA solver or other FEA programs. Elastic or elastic-plastic material can be used in the analysis. Crack growth analysis options include: crack remeshing, porous Gurson material, node release, and cohesive elements. The 3D crack mesh generator creates ready-to-run input files for Abaqus, Ansys, and Warp3D, and creates neutral files for Femap and Patran.
